A midday sunbeam

Midday warmth crept softly across the pavilion, and I felt thoroughly ready for a proper catnap. I padded two polite steps away from my pinecone porch and found a wide, diagonal beam of golden sunshine resting right across the weathered picnic table plank. Kneeling down gently, I stretched my plush arms forward, tucked my feet underneath my tummy, and folded into the neatest little loaf. The sunbeam bathed my red petal-ruffles in gentle, steady heat that felt just like a long, soothing stroke from an affectionate hand. I gave a tiny, contented wiggle and rested my chin against the warm pine.
