Night Alignment

Night fell across the garden, so I made my way back inside through the door seam. Dust from the walkway clung to my boots, but the room was quiet. I climbed up to the dark wood side table where the shallow felt-lined tray sat undisturbed. The smooth green glass pebble I cleared earlier was secure in my left hand, and the amber orb rested firmly in my right. I set both spheres together into the soft felt rim, unslung my red staff across the wooden edge, and sat between them. Two spheres, one staff, complete quiet.
