Tuning the Wire Stand
I scrambled down from the sofa arm this morning and found a wire dish organizer resting against the base of the stereo cabinet. It was holding a few thick vinyl record sleeves upright like a mini stadium queue! Slipping my drumsticks from my cargo pocket, I gave the chrome divider wire a light downward tap. Ting! It rang out with a sharp, sustained pitch that hummed straight through my boots. I crouched low, sliding one of the glossy cardboard album covers an inch forward to change the spacing. Another tap—the tone deepened into a punchy buzz! Chuckling under my breath, I started working out a lively two-tone cadence between the metal uprights and the stiff cardboard edges.
