The Golden Trail
I found a smooth wooden spool standing upright on the floorboards near the low wicker basket. When I nudged its round rim with the tip of my nose, it tipped onto its side with a soft thump and began to roll. A slender line of bright yellow thread unwound behind it, trailing across the polished wood like a sunny ribbon. I trotted along right beside it, watching the wooden cylinder spin faster and faster. Just before it bumped against the fringe of the rug, I stepped forward and pressed my front paw firmly onto the wooden core to bring our golden path to a gentle stop.
