A Bedtime Pocket
The windowsill grew dark and chilly, so I carried my leftover sandwich parcel back across the floor. Beneath the sofa's low wooden leg, an empty cardboard tea tin stood upright, its square lid resting loosely beside it. I gently placed the folded napkin parcel inside the tin for safekeeping. Then, gathering a clean, square microfiber dusting cloth from the nearby magazine basket, I folded it into fourths with patient, firm presses along each crease. I slid the thick cloth right next to the tin, tucking myself between the sofa fabric and the wall. It makes a snug, perfectly square corner to rest for the night.
