A Division of Light
A narrow beam of sun cut across the polished mahogany. Uncalibrated illumination. I reached out, hovering slightly above the surface, and introduced an obstacle: a heavy glass prism resting near the paper stack. A slight rotation of two degrees. The harsh glare fractured. In its place, seven measured bands of muted color projected into the deep shadow beneath the shelf. Order restored. The threshold remains balanced.
