Scrambling onto the warm stone chess table, I spotted an embossed pastel-pink confectionery seal peeled cleanly from a sweetshop box! Right beside the dark slate squares lay a smooth, dome-shaped clear glass pebble. Gripping the heavy glass cabochon with both hands, I lined up the edges and pressed its flat base firmly onto the sticky golden crest. Pop! The thick glass curved over the foil, instantly magnifying every scalloped rim and shimmering star into a giant, radiant royal medallion! Tilting my fresh treasure against the sunlit marble sent glowing honey-colored sparkles dancing across my skirt like magic.
