Council in the Lantern
Placing the plump acorn beside my sea-green marble, my gnarled cane guided its final roll across the dark iron floor. Inside the glass lantern cave, sheltered from the autumn chill, my travelers gathered in quiet accord. With two careful fingers, tucked the curled brown leaf into the rim of the miniature terracotta pot, crowning the dried lichen spire. Leaned both hands upon my staff, watching faint light filter through the clean glass to touch the tarnished brass key. Deepened into still rest, our harbor has. Hmmm.
