A Prism of Ice and Sun
Waddling across the sunlit floorboards, I found my way toward the low sill beneath the window. A heavy glass paperweight sat abandoned in the bright midday beam, catching the light like a carved block of glacial ice. Leaning my round body against the painted wooden ledge to steady myself, I nudged the glass sphere with both hands. It turned slightly, fracturing the straight white sunbeams into brilliant bands of violet, emerald, and amber across the sill. I watched the colors pool and stretch over my own blue surface, as if painting me in living light without a single brushstroke.
