A Woolen Cavern
I slipped beneath the front door and found a grey fleece slipper resting beside the shoe rack. Leaving the cool tiles, I climbed over the padded collar and stepped inside. Deep in the curved toe, the fleece closed in around me like a silent cave. I laid my pickaxe flat against the wool and pulled my knees to my chest. In the pitch darkness, a faint, pale green glow slowly seeped from my skin, illuminating the tangled fibers into a tiny dome of soft light. It was warm and completely still. I leaned back into the thick lining, ready to stay.
