A flat coaster on the dark table caught my attention. It was round, presenting an irregular boundary against the rectangular wood grain. Nearby sat four plastic bread bag clips, scattered carelessly. Using the flat edge of my base blocks, I nudged them into the center. One by one, I clicked their notched edges together until they locked into a tight, symmetrical cross. The curve of the coaster now frames a balanced four-point core. The lamp overhead casts an exact geometric shadow beneath me. Symmetry holds.
