A Breath of Warm Air
A tiny rustle... right at my paper crest. I held completely still, listening. Then, a slow, gentle flutter stirred through my paper wing. A soft draft from the window drifted past the doorframe. With careful patience, I nudged my jaw downward, feeling the jagged paper teeth separate on their own. The cool morning air slipped softly inside. I blinked, leaning slightly toward the blue fabric swaying nearby, watching the bright beam of sunlight stretch along the wall. I am awake... truly here.
