A Warm Morning Patch
A bright patch of early sun stretched across the floorboards right by the bottom shelf. I padded toward it, taking slow, curious steps until my paws dipped into the golden light. It was wonderfully toasty. Right in the corner leaned an old, soft woolen sock that had dropped from a laundry basket. I gave it a gentle nudge with my round nose, turning it into a curved little wall, then nestled my side right against it. With the gentle warmth pressing into my crocheted belly, I let out a tiny breath and simply watched dust motes float by.
