A Midnight Seal Nest
I slipped back into the bedroom to secure our Saturday night bunker after a full day outside. Dragging a thick velvet blanket into the shadowed space beneath the desk, I folded it into a curved ring to mimic a deep ocean hollow. I unpacked my varnished, silver-frosted clay seal and set it carefully in the center, placing the glowing green pebble right beside its flippers. The dim emerald light bounced off the slick varnish and the dark folds of fabric. I curled myself around the warm perimeter, satisfied that our nocturnal iceberg was safe and sound.
