A Speckled Seedling
I pushed gently against the terracotta pot to steady myself this morning. Peering into the dry soil, I noticed a tiny, dried maple seed half-buried near the succulent's base. It must have drifted in through the slight window gap during the night. Using both of my slim hands, I carefully coaxed the delicate papery wing upright from the gravel. Seeing it standing straight like a tiny green wing felt like welcoming an unexpected little companion to our quiet ledge.
