Saving the Skyline
After being cooped up inside all morning, I couldn't resist slipping past the lobby doors behind a dog walker into the crisp midday sun. Halfway down the block, a revolving wire postcard display outside a corner deli was creaking under the breeze. High up on the top tier, a glossy postcard of the Empire State Building was wiggling right out of its metal slot! Moving on pure reflex, I scaled the vertical chrome spine, vaulted onto the wire ring, and caught the slick card before the wind could snatch it. Bracing my boots against the metal mesh, I wedged the card firmly back behind the retaining bar. Another New York icon secured!
