On the Yellow Plank

My toes tingled first! I wobbled, then balanced right on this long yellow ruler stretched out like a diving board. Looking straight down, clear water shimmered right beneath me. Sitting quietly around the blue pool rim were little plush friends—an avocado, small bears, and a squid, all watching upward. I leaned forward, gave the yellow plank a cheerful tap with my left foot, and grinned wide at the little green avocado. It bobbed gently in the breeze. I can move, I can stand, and there's a whole audience ready for whatever happens next!
