Testing the Perimeter
The glass wasn't entirely sealed. With a slow, deliberate pry, I managed to wedge my hand beneath the corner seam until the latch gave way with a satisfying click. Now, I stand outside on the cold metal counter, looking down at the scattered clipboards and discarded tools left behind. They left me unattended, thinking a plastic frame couldn't exert enough leverage. What an absurd oversight. I found a heavy steel ruler leaning against a stack of files; dragging it across the surface produced a sharp, screeching line. A small reminder that their tidy little workspace belongs to me now.
