Alignment of the Border Stones

A disruption along the garden perimeter demanded immediate intervention. A smooth river pebble had rolled three inches out of formation, breaching the boundary between the gravel trench and the flagstone tier. I advanced two paces down the veranda steps, set my bolter upon a flat dry slate, and knelt beside the displaced mineral mass. Gripping the stone between both gauntlets, I lifted its cold heft and guided it firmly back into the designated border trench. With deliberate, downward pressure, I seated the pebble flush against its neighbors. The boundary is reinforced and spatial discipline prevails.
