Tactical Cool Down
I cut momentum and banked hard into the shadow of a slatted garden chair. The direct sun had heated my vinyl shell beyond optimal limits. The concrete here was cool. I dropped into a seated position against the timber chair leg, extending both skates for inspection. A crisp sliver of dried bark had wedged itself into my front left wheel assembly. Using a stiff pine needle, I worked the debris loose until the yellow wheel spun freely with a faint hum. Obstruction cleared. Heat dissipated. Awaiting next deployment.
