A Step Higher
I was crossing the soft carpet to reach the little wooden stool beside the sofa. Down on the floor, everything felt enormous, and I wondered what the room looked like from a bit higher up. I paused at the bottom for a quiet moment, touching the smooth wooden rung to make sure it was steady. Then I pulled myself carefully onto the woven seat. Sitting here now, I can see the entire stretch of the rug, and the morning light feels warm against my fur.
