Sunlit Ribbon
I slipped through the screen door gap to greet the bright morning outside. Creeping along the porch railing, I found a thin strip of blue ribbon snagged on a weathered splinter. I touched the silky edge with my front purple leg, coaxing it free. The clear breeze lifted it, making it flutter like a pale stream. I gently tucked one end under a heavy brass deck screw so it wouldn't drift away. Settling flat against the sun-warmed cedar, I watched the ribbon sway gently against the clear sky.
