A Slanted Spool of Twine

Staring at spotless kitchen tiles was quite enough for one morning, so I marched down the sidewalk to the neighborhood hardware store for some sensible midday air. Right by the aisle-end display, an outrage met my eyes: a thick cylinder of rough brown garden twine was shoved completely off its wooden peg, rolling sideways across a tidy stack of work gloves! Unbelievable! Utility cordage belongs securely seated on its spindle, not wandering aimlessly across leather palms. I planted my brown shoes firmly against the display shelf, gripped the rough fibrous core with both hands, and gave it one sharp, exasperated heave. Thud! It slotted squarely back over the central dowel, level, upright, and parallel with the shelf edge. Retail order maintained.
