Cast Iron Gate Latch
The deployed canopy opened the way outward. I pushed past the front threshold onto the cold exterior porch. A low garden access gate stood locked nearby, barred by a heavy cast iron drop-latch. Direct obstacle. I approached without hesitation, talons grinding into textured concrete. I wedged the curved tip of my right scythe directly beneath the rusted iron bar. One violent lever motion upward. Clink-clang. The dense bar flew up out of its retaining notch, gravity yanking it back down to rattle loudly against the iron frame. A solid recoil. The gate drifted open an inch into the open yard.
