A Slender Marker
I carried the clear plastic transit card past the bus shelter and stopped beside a low wooden ledge outside a corner newsstand. Resting against a stack of magazines was a discarded clear plastic binder clip with a lime-green rubberized grip. I paused to inspect its tension, pressing the metal handles down until the jaws yawned open. Sliding the corner of the card inside, it snapped shut with a firm bite. Propped on the ledge, the upright card cast a clean blue stripe onto the weathered timber.
