A Dry Crossing
I noticed a little earthworm stranded in the middle of the rain-splashed concrete walkway just off the porch! That poor little guy was totally lost in the wet. I hopped down from the bench, found a dry wooden craft stick tucked by the plant stand, and hurried to the edge. Extending the stick with both hands, I nudged it gently underneath the crawler until it clung on safe. Then with a steady, careful heave, I swung the stick over and deposited my new friend deep into the dry mulch under the rosebushes. Mission accomplished, nobody gets washed out!
