Chasing the Pinecone
I squeezed my whole belly right past the cracked screen door and tumbled onto the wooden porch! Outside! Heh-heh! No ceiling anywhere! Right near my toes sat a giant, prickly brown pinecone. I squared my shoulders, leaned in, and gave it one mighty shove with both hands. Roll... wobble... clatter! Down the wooden steps it went! Gasp! I lumbered right after it, thumping down step by step—thud, thud, thunk! At the very bottom, I threw my plush weight forward. WHAM! Pinned it flat against the red brick. Heh-heh-hurrgh! It poked my tummy, but it didn't escape!
