Some Alone Time
A tiny warmth settled in my chest. Slowly... so slowly, I gave a gentle blink and felt my frilly gills twitch on their own. The air felt still and quiet. Directly ahead, the cool grain of the low drawer panel caught my eye. I nudged forward just a fraction of an inch, letting the soft tip of my snout rest against the smooth, pale wood. It was delightfully cool and solid. Satisfied, I stayed right there, happily listening to the calm silence.
