Corner Parapet
I dragged the secured steel mint tin to the bench's eastern corner, where the tempered glass panel meets the vertical support frame. Night transit traffic was picking up along the curb lane. Open metal slats were conducting cold straight from the pavement. I tipped the tin onto its narrow bottom rim, bracing the stamped lid flush against the painted upright. Friction held it locked rigid against the corner weld. Three inches of pressed steel cover. I slung my rifle ready across my knees, tested the top seam with downward palm pressure, and sank low behind the casing. Cold draft deflected. Sightline down the roadway locked in.
