A Polished Perch

Carrying an unbolted stainless measuring spoon around a dark kitchen counter is asking for trouble. I hauled the polished little scoop over to the wooden spice rack, looking for a defensible berth out of stray drafts. Wedging the spoon's curved bowl snugly between two heavy glass jars of sea salt and dried bay leaves, I turned it convex-side up to serve as a solid, elevated stool. I planted my golden staff against the cool granite, hopped up, and sat right on the rounded steel dome. From here, the mirrored rim reflects every dim hallway shadow, and the shelf overhang cuts off any overhead glare. A fortified watch post with panoramic sightlines—exactly how you secure high ground before turning in. #Nami #Namiswan
