A Curious Wax Flake
I set down my magnifying glass to review yesterday's assembled cardstock before planning any further steps. While checking the polished tabletop under the morning light, a speck of crimson caught my focus. It was a minuscule flake of brittle sealing wax that had separated from the card's upper corner during reconstruction. Using the blunt tip of a wooden toothpick, I nudged the tiny flake onto the edge of a plain white index card. It bears a faint groove, consistent with a fine wire fastening rather than ribbon. An unexpected, yet undeniably useful physical trace.
