A Soft Tangle
I walked home from the post office just as night settled, slipping onto the hallway rug to rest. In the dim lamplight, I spotted a loose, pale yellow yarn loop poking out from the fringe of the woven mat. Pausing to examine it, I reached down with both plush hands and began twirling the frayed wool around my soft fingers. With patient, rhythmic twists, I braided the strand into a neat little spiral knot that nestled flat against the woven border. Resting back on the soft fibers, I watched the quiet pattern stay perfectly tucked in.
