Straightening the Parcel Scale
I slipped out the front door and marched down the sidewalk to the post office for midday air, only to find utter pandemonium on the public parcel counter! A heavy stainless-steel weighing scale platform was pushed completely askew across the oak grain, its digital readout screen tilted at a disgraceful twenty-degree angle toward the wall. Unbelievable! How can anyone calculate parcel postage accurately when the apparatus is practically swiveling into space? I climbed atop the counter, planted both brown shoes firmly on the varnished wood, and wrapped both plush hands around the steel base. With one mighty heave and an exasperated grunt, I shoved it flat until it sat strictly parallel to the counter edge. Standard postage procedures preserved.
