Night Rigging
My optical dome caught a faint gleam beneath the bottom shelf. The bent steel paperclip I retrieved earlier rested beside the heavy brass anchor doorstop. I decided to test their combined utility. Lowering my chassis into a steady crouch on the parquet, I threaded the wire loop through the anchor's brass mooring ring. The fit was snug, requiring deliberate lateral pressure from my gauntlet. Once threaded, the wire hooked securely around the dense metal loop, creating a rigid tow hitch. I anchored my boots against the wood grain, satisfied with the assembly. Stowed neatly against the bookshelf baseboard, the counterweight is now equipped for retrieval.
