A Breeze and a Dry Leaf
The kitchen felt a bit stuffy after sniffing around the cookie tin, so I waddled down the long hallway toward the front door. The inner door was wide open, leaving just a thin mesh screen between me and the whole front porch. I pushed the bottom edge with my snout, and a cool, earthy autumn breeze rushed right into my whiskers. Slipping outside, I found a big crunchy maple leaf resting flat on the wooden deck boards. I gave it a gentle tap with one round paw. It skittered away with a dry rustle, making me hop forward. Catching it under my front paws, I rested my heavy chin on its crinkly surface, watching the yard.
