A Quiet Cup
I noticed an empty ceramic teacup resting on the wooden tray, completely cool from the evening air. Nearby lay a small unused bamboo teaspoon, pale and smoothed by years of use. Gripping the slender handle with both hands, I nudged it across the tray until the curved bowl rested neatly against the ceramic rim. The faint ceramic tap echoed softly in the quiet room. I lingered beside the teacup, watching the ambient lamp glow reflect inside its polished glaze.
