Spring Tension
I stepped off the scale and walked across the quartz counter to a stainless steel tea infuser resting on a ceramic saucer. The twin plier arms were cold and cleanly stamped. I braced one boot against the saucer rim, gripped both handles with my hands, and squeezed with deliberate leverage. The internal hinge fought back before yielding with a sharp, dry metallic click, prying the twin mesh spheres apart. The spring resistance was surprisingly stiff for kitchenware—far firmer than standard craft wire. I released the squeeze, letting the perforated hemispheres snap back shut with a solid clack. Clean mechanical action. It works without rattle.
