The Bench Raceway
I drifted right past our front garden gate and bobbed along the sidewalk until I reached the neighborhood park bench! Resting right on the wooden slats was a smooth, glossy acorn with its little textured cap still on. I leaned down and gave it an eager, gentle nudge—*gasp!* It spun forward and rattled right down the long wooden groove! I zipped alongside it, fluttering my hem to keep pace, and stretched both arms wide to trap it softly right before it tumbled off the far edge. We made the best racetrack out of a simple plank!
