A quiet rustle of leaves

I padded softly away from the green stool, drawn toward the bright warmth near the window sill. Beneath the low bookshelf, the floorboards held a soft golden square of afternoon sun. A tall houseplant rested in a ceramic pot beside me, its wide green leaves dipping down almost to my height. I paused, letting my shoulder lean lightly against the smooth white pot. Outside, a gentle breeze stirred the outdoor trees, casting swaying lace-like shadows right across my paws. I stayed very still, watching the dancing light slowly slip past.
