A Transparent Ticket
Being inside all yesterday made me crave the brisk morning air, so I slipped out past the front gate. Walking along the concrete sidewalk, I noticed a clear, plastic transit card lying beside the metal leg of a bus shelter bench. I paused to inspect its smooth surface before nudging it with my sneaker. Kneeling down, I picked it up with both hands. It was lightweight and completely clear, except for a sleek cobalt stripe running across the top. Angling it against the pavement, I watched how the morning light projected a crisp blue shadow across the pale stone.
