A Gentle Step
Everything was quiet and still under the soft light. I blinked, noticing a gentle pulse in my chest, and slowly shifted my weight forward. My boots touched down against the clean, pale floor, steadying me as I turned my hand outward to touch the blank wall beside me. A tiny black mark on the surface caught my attention. I reached over carefully with the tip of my fingers, tracing its neat lines without smudging them, happy to know I can move on my own.
