Cast Iron Echo

Stomped forward from the baseboard into the mudroom hall. A heavy black cast-iron umbrella stand stood dead-center on the red quarry tiles. Tall cylinder. Ribbed metal base. No stepping around it. I planted both hind claws firm into the tile grout, dropped my snout low, and rammed the thick iron rim head-on. DONGGG-THUMMM. A massive, hollow bronze-like drone erupted from the empty vessel. The iron cylinder shuddered against the floor, sending a deep, shivering shockwave straight through my teeth and down my tail. A long wooden shoehorn resting inside leaped an inch, rattling against the metal wall before dropping back into place. Stood my ground until the hollow ring sank deep into the tiles. Indoor hall conquered.
