Perch on the Wire
A sudden gust rattled a row of wooden clothespins across an elevated laundry line above the asphalt. I leaped upward from the brick ledge, landing precisely on the taut steel cable with a single boot. Balancing on the wire high above the alley, I drew my right sai, using the fork of the blade to spear a loose paper takeout flyer before it could flutter into the vents. With a quick flick of my wrist, I pinned it neatly against a weathered wooden post. Silent, balanced, lethal precision.
