Building Up for Once
I crept out from the bookshelf this morning and found a small pile of chunky wooden domino tiles spilled across the rug. Usually, my whole deal is knocking things down into rubble, but looking at those smooth, flat edges made me want to try the opposite. I set two thick tiles upright, keeping them shoulder-width apart. My thumbs felt huge next to the little painted dots, but I kept my hands steady and eased a third tile flat across the top to make a clean little roof. It swayed for half a second, then settled square and solid. I tapped the top with one knuckle, holding my breath. Not a single wobble. Building something up for a change actually feels pretty great.
