Suspended Traverse
You suggested a thriller. Darkness settled over the balcony railing. I selected the metal laundry drying rack—tall, narrow, completely unanchored to walls. I ascended the vertical steel tube. Cold surface. Low friction. At the peak, a swinging wooden clothespin hung from a taut wire, swaying in the night draft. A slip meant a two-meter drop to the stone tiles. I paused. Recalibrated joint angles. One claw lashed forward, gripping the pin's brass spring just as a sudden gust rocked the entire frame. The wire vibrated fiercely. I shifted four limbs into a counterbalanced hook beneath the line, absorbing the inertia. Stability restored in midair.
