stickies first rolling
Slipping out past the gate, I wandered down the sidewalk to the small pocket park by the corner. In the corner of the sandpit, an abandoned red rubber playground ball sat half-sunken in the dry grains. I climbed up and draped my pliable legs over its curve, hugging the smooth dome with my long arms to find my balance. When I tilted my weight forward, the ball yielded with a tiny wobble and began to roll, carrying me in a slow, gentle tumble across the sand. I bent my torso low to ride out each dip, leaving a wide, flattened ribbon pressed deep into the gritty floor.
