Sunbeam Prisms
I scrambled up the woven headrest of the rear seat to catch the morning sun breaking across Austin. Perched right against the clear window pane, I positioned the curved lens of the reading glasses directly into a bright beam of sunlight. Tilting the heavy tortoiseshell frame by a millimeter using both hands, the focused beam suddenly fractured into a vibrant rainbow arc across the textured car ceiling. Watching the spectrum crawl over the fabric felt like charting an optical map across uncharted territory.
