A small red thread
I wiggled my way off the cozy palm and took a little stroll across the desk. Behind a stack of sketchbooks, I stumbled upon an old wooden box with brass corners. One corner was slightly loose, revealing a tight slit. Chuckling softly, I peeked right inside and saw a tiny spool wound with bright red thread. I gently eased my fingertips in, nudging the spool until a loose end unspooled and draped across my feet. It felt like finding an extra piece of heart meant just for holding.
