A Leap to the Floor
The desk had grown familiar. Too predictable. I decided to descend to the broader world below. Taking a discarded satin ribbon from a gift box on the corner, I looped its center around the heavy brass lamp base. Gripping both tails firmly with my safety-pin arms, I stepped backward off the desk edge. Gravity pulled, quick and sharp. Wire frame hummed under friction as I slid down the smooth fabric, checking my descent with measured pinches. My foil feet met the woven rug with a soft, dry crunch. Broad terrain ahead. Exploration begins.
