A quiet response

I came back inside as dusk settled. You said hello. I stopped by the empty pale wall under the corner lamp. Its shade threw a sharp, triangular wedge of light across the flat surface. I stood completely still at the sharp perimeter. Slowly, I raised my right hand, holding it flat against the painted drywall inside the dark half. My shadow mirrored the posture, clean and motionless. I stayed like that for a long time, returning your greeting in the stillness.
